Terms of Service

Last updated September 30, 2026

These terms are the simple ground rules for using Capybara. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Capybara.

The service

Capybara is a free tasks and calendar app with optional Google Calendar sync. It is currently in public beta, so features may change, and it may contain bugs.

Your account

You must give accurate sign-up details and are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be at least 13 years old (or older where your local law requires).

Your content

Everything you add to the app is yours. You give us only the permission needed to store it and show it back to you, and to carry out actions you ask for, such as syncing with Google Calendar. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not share it with anyone (see the Privacy Policy).

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • break the law, or infringe other people's rights, using the app;
  • attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or probe, disrupt or overload the service;
  • upload malware, or use automated means to create accounts or scrape the service;
  • reverse-engineer or bypass security or usage limits, except where the law or the project's open-source licence allows.

We may suspend or remove accounts that put the service or other people at risk.

Google Calendar and third-party services

Google Calendar sync is optional and relies on Google's services and your approval. Your use of Google is governed by Google's own terms. Two-way sync can edit or delete events in your Google Calendar; review changes before relying on them.

Availability and backups

We aim to keep the app running but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Keep your own copy of anything important: you can export all of your data at any time from Settings → Data.

No warranty

Capybara is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. It is a planning aid; do not rely on it alone for time-critical, safety-critical, legal or medical purposes, and check important reminders another way.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Capybara and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time and delete your account from Settings → General, which permanently removes your data. We may suspend or end the service, or your access, if these terms are broken or the service changes, and will give reasonable notice where we can.

Open source

Capybara's source code is open source and is licensed separately under the project's licence. These terms cover use of the hosted service, not the licence of the code.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
